According to the report, “in one email from Flynn to Joe, aka Robersons Peters, on May 26, 2016, and copied to Hunter, the schedule includes ‘8:45am prep for 9am phonemail with Pres Poroshenko.'”
President Victor Poroshenko was the President of Ukraine at the time. Hunter Biden, meanwhile, was sitting on the board of a Ukrainian gas company called Burisma Holdings for $83,333 a month.
State department officials say they tried to address the conflict of interest directly with the Vice President at the time. Given that he was in charge of Ukraine policy, his son’s financial relationship between with the Ukrainian gas company was considered a clear problem. Nonetheless, they say their efforts to warn the Vice President about ethical concerns were ignored.
Back in October of 2020, a group of conservative lawmakers asked for a special counsel investigation into Joe and Hunter Biden but, the investigation never occurred and repeatedly, any efforts to report on the Hunter laptop were shut down by big tech, with Twitter even suspending the New York Post’s twitter account as a result of the organization’s reporting on Hunter Biden allegations.
After the November 2020 election, it was reported that Hunter Biden is under federal investigation over taxes and had been since 2018. Hunter Biden released a statement saying, “I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.”
Meanwhile, the FBI had indeed been investigating the laptop including as a potential disinformation source from Russia. Hunter Biden told CBS News in April 2021 that he had “no idea whether or not” the laptop belongs to him, but acknowledged it was “certainly” a possibility. “There could be a laptop out there that was stolen from me,” he said in the interview clip. “It could be that I was hacked. It could be that it was the — that it was Russian intelligence. It could be that it was stolen from me. Or that there was a laptop stolen from me.”
The FBI took possession of a laptop thought to belong to Hunter Biden in 2019. It came from a computer repair shop in Delaware.
