Biden Team Pleads With Federal Employees to Take 4-Month Leave To Help At Border

The Biden administration is reportedly circulating an email pleading with federal employees to take a paid leave of absence in order to volunteer at the Southwest border.
According to the New York Times, the Biden administration is sending an email to federal employees of various agencies, from NASA to the Department of Homeland Security, asking them to take a four-month paid leave in order to help at the border.
“Will you consider taking a four-month paid leave from your job to help care for migrant children in government-run shelters packed with new arrivals at the border?” the email reportedly reads.
2,722 employees across the government have volunteered so far according to the Times, and in most cases, their salaries are being picked up by the health department.
Nearly 170,000 migrants were apprehended at the US-Mexico border last month. Being dubbed by critics as “the Biden surge,” the increase represents a 243 percent climb over  March 2020’s numbers and is the largest number of monthly crossings in 15 years.
The administration has increasingly come under fire for the border crisis — which it still refuses to label a “crisis.”
President Biden recently put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of the issue, however she has yet to travel to the border nor has she yet held a press conference about the border to inform the public on the steps she intends to take.
