Biden Touts Economy, Critics Push Back

President Joe Biden touted the economy in his latest speech, but critics say there is more to the story.

In his speech, Biden boasted of job creation during his administration.

“As I said, we passed the CHIPS and Science Act,” Biden said. “Result: Companies are investing hundreds of billions of dollars — tens of thousands of jobs. And by the way, you know what these jobs are going to be? And, for example, the ones down in — for Intel, when they get these factories built or up — you’ve got one — I’m going to leave somebody out, so I won’t name them all.”

Critics, though, have consistently pointed to elevated inflation, the Federal Reserve’s aggressive rate hikes that will have economic consequences, and lower GDP numbers this year.

Others pointed out that Biden’s speech did not make the waves before election day that he may have hoped.
