The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, says he sill not resign despite the increasing calls for him to step down from his post amid multiple allegations of sexual harassment and the revelation that his administration covered up the real numbers of Covid-19 nursing home deaths.
“Some politicians will always play politics. That’s the nature of the beast. I don’t think today is a day for politics. I wasn’t elected by politicians, I was elected by the people of the State of New York. I’m not going to resign,” said the governor in his first public appearance since the harassment allegations surfaced.
“I’m sorry for whatever pain I caused anyone,” he added about the increasing number of women (now three) that have come forward. “I never touched anyone inappropriately.”
“It was unintentional and I truly and deeply apologize for it,” he said as his voice seems to choke up.
