“I just called Senator Tillis to congratulate him on winning reelection to a second term in the U.S. Senate and wished him and his family the best in their continued service in the months and years ahead,” Cal Cunningham, the Democratic candidate said in a conceding statement on Tuesday.
Sen. Thom Tillis, represents the 49th seat for Republicans, while Democrats hold 48. GOP is leading in the Alaska race, while the two races in Georgia are going to a runoff in January. If Republicans will win Alaska, all they will need is to win one of the two races in Georgia in order to hold the Senate.
“Earlier this afternoon, Cal Cunningham called me to offer his concession,” Tillis said in a statement. “This was a hard-fought campaign and I wish nothing but the best to Cal and his family going forward.”
