Dr. Li-Meng Yan, an acclaimed virologist with many publications in the field of coronaviruses, appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox News, alleging that Covid-19 was produced in a Chinese military lab and that the Chinese government intentionally allowed it to spread.
While there is no evidence to support Dr. Li-Meng Yan claims, nor there is a way to independently verify that on the ground in China, the World Health Organization has initiated an investigation and sent experts to the Chinese capital in July to lay the groundwork for an investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. So far there is no report yet.
“I work[ed] in the WHO reference lab, which is the top coronavirus lab in the world, in the University of Hong Kong. And the thing is I get deeply into such investigation in secret from the early beginning of this outbreak. I had my intelligence because I also get my own unit network in China, involved [in] the hospital … also I work with the top corona[virus] virologist in the world,” Dr. Li-Meng Yan said.
“So, together with my experience, I can tell you, this is created in the lab … and also, it is spread to the world to make such damage.”
Dr. Li-Meng Yan and her team have published their findings on Zenodo in a report entitled “Unusual Features of the SARS CoV-2 Genome Suggesting Sophisticated Laboratory Modification Rather Than Natural Evolution and Delineation of Its Probable Synthetic Route.” Click the image below to access the full report.
Meanwhile, The New York Post reported that U.S. experts are now disputing the findings of Dr. Li-Meng Yan.
Jason Kaelber, a Rutgers University virologist and an assistant research professor at the Institute for Quantitative Biomedicine, said to The Post that’s simply not the case.
“All the weird things about Sars-Cov-2 are completely consistent with the sort of weirdness that happens in wild viruses all the time,” Kaelber told The Post.
