The President of CNN, Jeff Zucker, resigned Wednesday after acknowledging a relationship with a co-worker.
“I was required to disclose it when it began, but I didn’t,” he wrote in a memo to colleagues, according to the New York Times. In the same memo, he explained that the relationship came up during a network investigation into the conduct of Chris Cuomo.
The woman with whom he developed a relationship was Alison Gollust, a senior executive at the company. Gollust issued a statement on Wednesday writing, “Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years. Recently, out relationship changed during Covid. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time. I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do everyday.”
Gollust said she will continue at the company.
Zucker also issued a statement saying he wished his tenure had ended differently but, “it was an amazing run.”
Zucker oversaw all of WarnerMedia’s live programming, including divisions of CNN Worldwide and Turner Sports. Jeff Zucker spent 9 years at the company.
