Colin Powell Has Died of Covid-19 Complications

Colin Powell, the former Secretary of State and the the first African-American chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has died of Covid-19 complications at the age of 84.

Powell’s family made the announcement on social media, confirming that he had been fully vaccinated. (Story continues below.)

“We have lost a remarkeable and loving husband, father and grandfather and a great American,” the family wrote.

Powell had previously been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer that hurts the body’s ability to fight infections.
