Poll: Democrats Don’t Even Want Biden To Run Again

President Joe Biden has seen his poll numbers plummet since taking office, and now it appears his own party doesn’t want him to run for re-election.

ANPR-PBS NewsHour-Marist poll released this week found that a minority of Democrats do not want Biden to be their candidate in 2024. The poll found 44% of Democrats and left-leaning Independents do not want Biden, while 36% do, while the rest are unsure.

“Biden has nearly the worst approval ratings of any president on record at this stage of his presidency,” said Nate Cohn. “Just something to keep in mind if you’re struggling to understand what happened tonight.”

The poll is yet another bad indicator for the president who took heavy fire for the deadly and chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan as well as rising inflation, supply shortages and elevated unemployment.

“This survey of 1,209 adults was conducted October 18th through October 22nd, 2021 by The Marist Poll sponsored in partnership with NPR and PBS NewsHour,” the pollsters said.

The latest Rasmussen poll found Biden’s disapproval rating has hit 55%. His approval rating has hovered around 43% in a collection of recent polls.

Even the far-left blog, Vox, took Biden to task Wednesday after Democrats took heavy losses in the election.

From Vox:

Biden’s approval rating is already lower than Barack Obama’s and Bill Clinton’s were just before their disastrous 2010 and 1994 midterms — Obama’s approval was at 45 percent, and Clinton’s was at 47.2 percent. Democrats lost 63 House of Representatives seats in 2010 and 54 seats in 1994.

It’s not just overall disapproval that has hit Biden, though. Polls show they see him as a weaker Commander-in-Chief than his predecessors.

“In the aftermath of the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal, voter appraisal of President Joe Biden’s leadership has shifted sharply and a majority now view him as a weaker leader than his predecessors,” Rasmussen said. “The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 57% of likely U.S. Voters think, compared to most recent presidents, President Biden is a weaker commander in chief for the military.”
