DeSantis: Asking Me To Back Trump For 2024 Is ‘Too Much To Ask’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is a rumored to be a leading contender to run for the White House in 2024, and his latest comments about President Donald Trump only added to those speculations.

When asked whether he would back Trump in a 2024 bid, DeSantis said that was “too much to ask.”

The New York Times reports that DeSantis has told insiders that expecting him to “bend the knee” to Trump is asking too much.

DeSantis’ comments come after Trump attacked DeSantis, which was reported by anonymous sources in the press, one of a few public attacks between the two potential presidential candidates. DeSantis also recently said on the “Ruthless” podcast that he regrets not speaking out against Trump’s early pandemic response.

A top Trump aide was not impressed with DeSantis’ comments.

“Also, DeSantis and his staff knew what they were doing. How many Florida general election voters are listening to the Ruthless podcast?” the Trump advisor told NBC News. “Now, that said, they might have been hoping for more out of Ron, because, let’s face it, he didn’t really criticize Trump. But they knew the media would instantly jump on it and wish-cast it into existence.”
