A video clip of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn speaking at a conference in Dallas this weekend showed him answering a question from a participant who wanted to know “why what happened in Myanmar can’t happen here [in U.S.].”
The question clearly referenced recent military coup in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma.
The Myanmar military launched a coup in February 2021, announcing a yearlong state of emergency and arresting opposition figures, including de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, and civil society activists.
“No reason,” Flynn replied to the question. “I mean, it should happen.”
