Former NFL star Herschel Walker launched his Senate campaign and the cash is already rolling into his political coffers.
Walker’s bid to represent Georgia in Congress got fresh wind from the donors, 50,000 total from all 50 states.
“We are overwhelmed by the support from nearly 50,000 Americans who love this country and want to help our campaign,” Walker said in a statement. “We are grateful for each and every cent and look forward to continuing to travel across this great state shaking hands with real Georgians and hearing about the issues facing their communities.”
Walker has even received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.
“Herschel Walker will never let you down,” Trump said in a statement. “Walker in turn thanked the former President in a tweet, writing: “Together, we will win back the U.S. Senate for GEORGIA!!”
Walker is highlighting his values and history of major accomplishments in his campaign.
“Herschel Walker grew up in Wrightsville, Georgia, where he learned discipline, faith in God, and the value of hard work,” his campaign website reads. “Herschel has been successful in whatever he has set his mind to. Whether on the football field, in the classroom, at the Olympics… as CEO of multiple businesses, or as spokesman for an organization helping U.S. soldiers struggling with mental illness, he has strived for excellence.”
Walker’s campaign says the U.S. is in deep need of a new way forward as the country heads in the wrong direction.
“Herschel believes that America is at a crossroads, and he refuses to sit on the sidelines while national leaders take our country down the wrong path. Herschel Walker is a kid from a small town in Georgia who has lived the American Dream, and now he is running as a Republican for the United States Senate to keep that dream alive for everyone.”
