Jack Ma, the 56-year-old founder of the Chinese company Alibaba, was seen for the first time in three months on Wednesday. He spoke by video at a charity event.
In late October, Ma raised eyebrows for his critical comments about Chinese regulators. He accused China of stifling innovation in the financial industry. Immediately following those comments, he disappeared from public view.
Concerns heightened in November, when Ma missed a scheduled appearance on an African television show in which he was supposed to be a judge.
In China, billionaires have frequently disappeared from public eye during legal and regulatory investigation.
