Hollywood is known for liberal actors toeing the Democrat line, but one actress spoke out this week.
Now she’s paying for it.
“Wonder Woman” actress Gal Gadot is taking heavy criticism online after her comments about the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
But what did the actress say, exactly?
She simply called for peace.
“My heart breaks. My country is at war. I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long. Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation,” Gadot wrote on Twitter. “Our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families. I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we can live side by side in peace. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long.”
The terrorist group Hamas, housed in Palestine, shot 200 rockets into Israel, killing multiple people. Israel retaliated, and tensions continue to mount in the region.
Gadot, who is Jewish, took criticism for her comments.
“And people really said we were exaggerating when we said boycott Gal Gadot who acts as a literal tool of propaganda for her government and the occupation forces she once served in. She can’t even say the word Palestinian,” one critic wrote. “To the dustbin of history.”
However, supporters rallied around Gadot and blasted her critics.
“The internet is angry at Gal Gadot because she’s an IDF veteran, which all Israelis are required to serve in for at least two years, and had the audacity to share a heartwarming message for peace in the conflict,” Greg Price wrote on Twitter. “A lot of disgusting people in her replies.”
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, voiced his support for “Wonder Woman” actress in a tweet that summed up the feelings of many of her supporters.
“God bless @GalGadot,” he wrote.
