“There are no Black women in the Senate,” wrote Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) in a tweet on Wednesday.”They don’t have our voice there to tell them that the Jim Crow filibuster is killing us.”
Bush is among hundred Democratic lawmakers in the House of Representatives who have signed a letter to Senate lawmakers demanding that they eliminate the filibuster.
“Tomorrow, I’m holding a press conference at the Capitol to make it clear: to save lives, we must eliminate the Jim Crow filibuster,” continued Bush.
Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona are the only Democrats in US Senate that are opposing the move to end filibuster.

“We must #EliminateTheFilibuster,” tweeted out Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA). She listed a series of liberal objectives at stake if the filibuster doesn’t end.
“It’s LGBTQ+ equality or the filibuster. It’s DC Statehood or the filibuster. It’s voting rights or the filibuster. It’s the Dream Act, gun safety reforms, campaign finance reform, and equal pay or the filibuster. The choice is clear.”
