A little more than 100 days into his presidency, Joe Biden has not made any friends on the Republican side of the aisle.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) blasted Biden in an interview Thursday, calling him a “socialist” and saying Biden “made Barack Obama look like Ronald Reagan.
“If I ever hear that Joe Biden’s a moderate again, I’m going to throw up,” Graham said in an interview on Fox News. “Because after tonight, he embraced socialism. He made Barack Obama look like Ronald Reagan.”
The comments came in response to Biden’s address to the nation Wednesday night, where the president laid out a sweeping array of regulation, taxes and spending proposals.
“I saw a socialist tonight,” Graham said. “I saw a man who embraced socialism. What did he tell us? To save American families we’re going to grow the government. The bottom line now is ‘infrastructure’ is about climate change. It’s not about roads and bridges.”
The criticism of Biden has grown in recent weeks as he continues to introduce more spending bills. This week, he introduced a $1.8 trillion “American Families Plan,” which puts his request for Congressional spending over $6 trillion.
“He talked about Russia and China in terms that were really unnerving to me,” Graham said. “Do you think, after listening to Joe Biden tonight, that anybody at the Kremlin is worried? Do you think the Chinese have any fear in them after hearing this speech tonight? It was incoherent on foreign policy.”
Graham also touted Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), who gave the Republican response to Biden’s address.
“If you want to help Tim, go to votetimscott.com and give what you can because the enemies of Tim Scott are going to do the same tonight,” Graham said. “We need to have Tim’s back like you had my back. I remember what it was like after Kavanaugh. Tim is in for a real challenge here, and we need to help him.”
