A federal judge overturned the Biden administration’s federal mask mandate on planes, trains, and in airports, and the latest polling shows Americans are very happy about it.
Rasmussen Reports released new polling showing the majority of Americans support overturning the mandate.
“Most Americans approve of a judge’s decision striking down mandatory masks on trains and airlines, and believe the danger from the COVID-19 pandemic is mostly over,” the group said. “The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 51% of American Adults believe ending the mask mandate is a good decision, while 34% think it’s a bad decision. Another 16% are not sure.”
The Biden administration, despite the opposition of the majority, has said they will challenge the judge’s ruling. U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle said in her ruling that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) did not have the authority to create the mandate.
“But the mandate exceeded the CDC’s statutory authority, improperly invoked the good cause exception to notice and comment rulemaking, and failed to adequately explain its decisions,” she wrote in her ruling.
After news broke that the mandate was lifted, videos went viral showing passengers and flight crews celebrating.
