Manhattan’s District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. now has possession of the tax records of former President Donald Trump.
The records from 2011-2018 arrived at the DA’s office as a result of the Supreme Court refusing to intervene in the DA’s subpoena for the documents.
The district attorney was originally looking for possible violations stemming from alleged payments from Trump attorney Michael Cohen to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. However, Vance’s office later revealed it was looking for other, additional violations, including possibly bank or insurance fraud.
The former President tried to prevent the NY DA’s office from gaining a copy of the returns amid concerns that this was an attempt to target Donald Trump for political reasons.
