Markets Mixed After Huge Tech Rally as Investors Wait On Earnings

U.S. markets were mixed in early trading, after Monday’s sudden surge in tech stocks.

The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average were higher, with the Dow up 0.21% and the S&P 500 just barely in positive territory, up 0.007%, while the Nasdaq Composite Index was off 0.60. However, the tech-focused index just saw its the best two-day rebound of tech stocks in two years, as investors bet that the brutal January selloff in tech went too far, and are now trying to correct the markets. Moreover, they hope that tech earnings will bring good news.

Google’s parent company Alphabet is reporting earnings today, together with Exxon, GM and PayPal. Exxon reported higher than expected fourth quarter profits as fuel prices soared. The other key companies reporter after the closing bell.
