McDonald’s is closing hundreds of its restaurants inside Walmart as the pandemic takes its toll on the changing economy and people are opting not to eat while they shop.
That’s IF they shop, in person.
Increasingly, people are choosing to buy online and depend on drive-thrus for fast food.
As such, McDonald’s is closing hundreds of its restaurants at SuperCenters across the country. Roughly 150 restaurants will still remain in Walmart stores but, another wave of closures is expected by this summer according to McDonalds and first reported in the Wall Street Journal.
Subway, which also has restaurants in Walmart stores, are also reportedly expected to close locations soon as a results of fewer customers.
Walmart is expected to test new locations with Yum brand’s Taco Bell as well as an expiation of its Dominos Pizza locations, according to the report. Smoothie vending machines as well as Charleys Philly Steak locations are also being tested.
