“SARS-CoV-2 is not going away,” said Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel during a panel at the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference, according to CNBC. “We are going to live with this virus, we think, forever,” continued Bancel.
Bancel statement follows the those made last November by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci who said that “we need to plan that this is something we may need to maintain control over chronically. It may be something that becomes endemic.”
Since the pandemic began in February 2020, more than 23 million people have tested positive in the United States, and at least 383,000 have died from it.
