COVID has continued to ravage the nation since its first outbreak last year, but the latest data shows that this year has been worse than 2020.
While many in the mainstream media, and even some COVID experts, attacked former President Donald Trump for his handling of the virus, it seems the death rate has grown worse since President Biden took over, even despite the vaccine now being fully available.
Data from John Hopkins shows that more Americans have died this year, during Biden’s first year, than in all of last year.
“The coronavirus doesn’t really know what year it is,” said Dr. David Dowdy, an associate professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. “And the death has largely come in waves.”
There have been over 353,000 reported COVID-19 deaths since Jan. 1, roughly one thousand more the 352,000 deaths for the first 10 months of the pandemic.
While these numbers are close and Biden did not take office until later in January, it does show that President Biden has been unable to get the pandemic under control, even with the advantages of more time, preparation and vaccination.
“More Americans have died of COVID during the first 8 months of the Biden Administration than in 2020 under Trump,” former special forces operator Greg West wrote on Twitter. “Biden has had a vaccine the entire time he’s been president.”
