“Should be a term limit for these appointees,” Musk tweeted in response to an article critical of Dr. Fauci.

Dr. Anthony Fauci became the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in 1984. That is 37 years ago.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Fauci became the face of the pandemic response in the U.S. However, Fauci came under fire after Senator Rand Paul questioned the U.S. involvement in the financing of the controversial Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Fauci vehemently denied that the U.S. financed gain-of-function research in Wuhan.

The criticism of the top U.S. health official is mounting, including with the article that prompted Musk to tweet.

Musk’s Criticism Of Pandemic Policy

Tesla’s CEO has been a longstanding critic of the way the pandemic is managed in the U.S.

In March 2020, he tweeted that “the coronavirus panic is dumb.”

In November he revealed he tested positive for the disease, saying he experienced “mild sniffles & cough & slight fever.”

In March 2021, he came under fire for suggesting there was “some debate” on the safety of COVID-19 vaccines.

In August, during the botched U.S. retreat from Afghanistan, Musk joked about the Taliban not wearing masks.

“Do they even know about the delta variant!?” he said.
