The National Rifle Association announced Friday that it has filed for bankruptcy in a U.S.. court.
The NRA is making plans to restructure as a nonprofit group in Texas so that it can be free from what it describes as a “corrupt political and regulatory environment in New York” where the group is currently registered.
The New York Attorney General, Letitia James, had announced last year that the state was aiming to dissolve the NRA in a lawsuit accusing the group’s leadership of diverting millions of dollars for their own personal use.
