Poll: Americans Glad Whoopi Goldberg Got Suspended From ‘The View’

Whoopi Goldberg sparked national controversy for her comments about the Holocaust on “The View,” which led to her suspension from the show.

Now, new polling shows Americans were glad to see her go.

“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 54% of American Adults agree with ABC’s decision to suspend Goldberg, including 36% who Strongly Agree,” Rasmussen said. “Thirty-four percent (34%) disagree with ABC’s suspension of Goldberg, including 15% who Strongly Disagree. Another 12% are not sure.”

Rasmussen added that even though Americans oppose cancel culture, they felt Goldberg’s comments deserved the suspension.

“ABC’s decision to suspend ‘The View’ co-host Whoopi Goldberg for her comments about the Holocaust is supported by most Americans, who nonetheless think “cancel culture” is out of control,” Rasmussen said.

Goldberg’s comments drew sharp pushback online. Some said the suspension did not go far enough.

“Sharon Osbourne was fired from The Talk for defending me against a fake charge of racism,” said Piers Morgan. “Whoopi Goldberg said on The View… that the Holocaust ‘wasn’t about race’, which for Jewish people is about as racist a comment as anyone could make. Bet she doesn’t lose her job.”
