Although Democrats were eager to impeach former President Donald Trump during his presidency, Republicans had not been willing to do the same.
Until now. (Story continues below.)
Following the disastrous and deadly events in Afghanistan after U.S. troops were withdrawn, the first real talks of impeachment against the president have now begun.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., said this week that she will file articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden.
“We all know Joe Biden is corrupt, right?” Greene said during a speech next to Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. “Because I believe in firing people when they’re corrupt and they do a bad job.”
Her comments as Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., made a similar statement just this week.
“Biden has been a wrecking ball regarding foreign policy, national security for 40 years,” said Graham on Fox News on Friday.
Sen. Graham said Biden deserves to be impeached if Americans are hurt in Afghanistan.
“We are duty-bound to get every American citizen out. We’re honor-bound to get those Afghans who fought along our side out. And here’s what I would say: If we leave any Americans behind, if we leave thousands of those Afghans who fought along our side behind, bravely, Joe Biden deserves to be impeached for a higher crime and misdemeanor of dereliction of duty,” Graham emphasized. “If we leave one American behind, if we don’t get all those … Afghans who stepped up to the plate and helped us out, then Joe Biden, in my view, has committed a higher crime and misdemeanor under the Constitution and should be impeached.”
Trump has also lambasted Biden, calling on him to resign.
“What Joe Biden has done with Afghanistan is legendary. It will go down as one of the greatest defeats in American history,” Trump said. “It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace. Afghanistan is the most embarrassing military outcome in the history of the United States. It didn’t have to be that way!”
