Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called on the state legislature to remove special tax provisions that cater to Disney. The move comes after Disney fell into controversy for opposing a law in Florida that would prohibit teachers from teaching Kindergarten to 3rd grade students inappropriate LGBT content.
“I am announcing today that we are expanding the call of what they are going to be considering,” DeSantis said. “Yes, they will be considering the congressional map but they also will be considering termination of all special districts that were enacted in Florida prior to 1968 and that includes the Reedy Creek Improvement District.”
Those special districts allow Disney to enjoy cushy tax provisions. Now, they could be removed which would cost Disney big time. Disney also pledged to make at least half of its characters LGBT or minorities to continue to push its agenda on kids.
DeSantis said he doesn’t “support special privileges in law just because a company is powerful and they’ve been able to wield a lot of power.”
