“So we have had an anti-science, ignorant, reckless process in this country, led by Trump. He leads chaos, confusion, and death,” said Jeffrey Sachs, the President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network in an interview with MSNBC on Tuesday.
The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) was set up in 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. In SDSN’s website, they explain the scope of their work to mobilize global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, and civil society.
“No one can trust anything he says because he has been unwilling and uninterested in telling the truth, and in following the basics of public health from the beginning,” said Sachs.
“We reached two hundred thousand deaths of Americans, as of today, and the rate of deaths per population in our country is a hundred times higher than it is in many other countries in the world,” continued Sachs.
“Nobody can trust anything right now, because [Trump] has been unwilling and uninterested in telling the truth and in following the basics of public health from the beginning…and it’s two hundred thousand deaths as of today…unbelievable.
As per a recent study of Council on Foreign Relations, The United States remains the largest donor to the United Nations, contributing roughly $10 billion in 2018, slightly less than one-fifth of the body’s collective budget.
