With just hours left on the clock, President Donald Trump pardoned his former chief White House strategist Steve Bannon. It was seen as a preemptive move to wipe away all charges against his former advisor.
In August, Bannon was indicted in connection to a crowdfunding campaign that allegedly intended to defraud political donors with promises of a border wall. Bannon pleaded non-guilty.
Steve Bannon played an instrumental role in Trump’s campaign for the Presidency in 2015 and accompanied him to the White House in 2016. Though they parted ways in summer of 2017, Bannon remained a strong supporter of the President’s and appeared in many media venues.
