Neera Tanden withdrew her nomination to be director for the Office of Management and Budget Tuesday evening after it became quite clear her appointment faced opposition from both parties. This is the first Cabinet defeat for President Biden.
Neera Tanden has a history of divisive and highly aggressive social media attacks. She targeted Republican lawmakers, and as well as right-of-center journalists and opinion leaders. I, myself, was a recipient of negative tweets from Tanden. Aapparently, if you held a different opinion from whatever it was Tanden was touting, you were in her twitter line of fire.
Tanden did apologize for her past behavior, and even took down a series of tweets (including those directed at me) but, ultimately no one on Capitol Hill was buying whatever it was she was selling.
You see, Neera Tanden ultimately proved to be too much of a political operative–even for the political operatives in Washington, D.C.
Nonetheless, what does it tell us about the Biden team that they would have ever appointed Tanden in the first place?
