Democrats on the left are continuing to push open borders polices, but one expert let them have it Wednesday.
Former acting ICE director Tom Homan lambasted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. for her immigration policies and comments on the issue and even questioning her intelligence.
“AOC is the least smart congresswoman in the history of Congress,” Homan told Fox News. “Every time she opens her mouth on immigration, she’s wrong. But here are the facts of the case. It’s an open borders agenda. President Biden made promises to win the progressive left, like open borders agenda. He kept those promises by signing executive orders.”
Homan went on to criticize Biden’s policies, which have led to a flood of illegal immigration since he took office.
U.S. Customs and Border Patrol released data showing a major spike in March of this year. The federal immigration agency encountered 172,000 illegal immigrants attempting to enter the country in that month alone, a 71 percent increase from the previous month.
“BP continues to see a significant increase of unaccompanied children from Central America at the Southwest border, with 18,890 in March 2021 – a 100 percent increase over February,” CBP said in a statement. “Although less than 11 percent of encounters in March were unaccompanied children, they make up the largest demographic group of individuals in custody at CBP facilities. CBP works in close coordination with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) officials to quickly transfer processed unaccompanied children to Care Provider Facilities.”
As illegal immigration has surged, arrests from ICE have plummeted under Biden.
Democrats have largely ignored the issue. Vice President Kamala Harris has been tasked with overseeing the immigration crisis but has not visited the southern border in over 50 days, drawing consistent criticism for shifting the responsibility.
Republicans, though have raised the alarm about the flood in illegal immigration.
“It just doesn’t make sense. This is incompetence at the highest level,” Homan said.
