TRUMP: Actually, ‘Colin Powell Was A RINO’ Who Made ‘Plenty of Mistakes’

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell passed away this week and received praise from both sides of the aisle for his service. However, one leading figure was quick to push back against the lavish compliments.

Former President Donald Trump blasted Powell in a statement this week, calling him a RINO, or “Republican in name only.”

“Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media,” Trump said in a statement the day after Powell passed away. “Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans.”

Powell’s family announced the death Monday.

“We want to thank the medical staff at Walter Reed National Medical Center for their caring treatment,” Powell’s family said in the statement, adding that he had been fully vaccinated. “We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American.”

Many praised Powell in his death, including former President George W. Bush.

“Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of Colin Powell. He was a great public servant, starting with his time as a soldier during Vietnam,” Bush said. “He was such a favorite of Presidents that he earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom – twice. He was highly respected at home and abroad. Laura and I send Alma and their children our sincere condolences as they remember the life of a great man.”

Trump, though, was not impressed.

“He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!” Trump said.
