Newly released polling data responds to the question many are asking: who would win between former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis?
“Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is very popular with Republican voters, but if former President Donald Trump seeks the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, most expect Trump would beat DeSantis,” Rasmussen said.
The poll found 15 percent are not sure, and those could be the difference in the race. It’s worth pointing out that just because someone thinks one candidate will win, that is not necessarily the candidate they would vote for.
“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 40% of Likely U.S. Voters believe Trump would win if both he and DeSantis sought the 2024 Republican nomination,” the group said. “Twenty-two percent (22%) think DeSantis would win, while 23% believe neither Trump nor DeSantis would win the 2024 nomination. Another 15% are not sure.”
While the presidential election is still years away and neither Trump nor DeSantis has announced a run, many are speculating they will. Trump has heavily suggested he will run, but DeSantis has said he will not run if Trump does.
The Washington Examiner reported that favorability surveys between DeSantis and Trump have them in a dead tie.
Only time will tell if they decide to run and who can win in the end.
