Trump said he is close to deciding whether he will run, but he did say he thinks he can beat the Florida governor.
“I don’t know if Ron is running, and I don’t ask him,” Trump told The New Yorker in an interview. “It’s his prerogative. I think I would win.”
This is the latest development in the pair’s complicated relationship. Trump’s support helped DeSantis win in Florida, but DeSantis has since grown in popularity and political wins in his home state.
Meanwhile, DeSantis is raking in donations from Trump donors, Politico reports.
Trump’s comments stirred up speculation online.
Ron DeSantis learned how to fight back from President Trump, the entire party has.
We have a historic opportunity to elect President Trump AGAIN. We cannot take any chances and Florida needs DeSantis for his entire 2nd term.
There are A LOT of people trying to stop Trump.

Don’t make the Republican voters choose between Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump.
We need 4 more years of Trump and 8 years of DeSantis afterwards.

DeSantis has said he supports red flag laws, and Florida has on in place signed by Rick Scott
Trump once said he supported them too, but dropped it later after massive pushback pic.twitter.com/ujaCA6k1T7
