Former president Donald Trump has continued to call out Democratic missteps even after the White House.
Trump’s latest issue? The Democrats’ massive $3.5 trillion spending bill which includes provisions for the Green New Deal, amnesty, and a litany of other projects.
“It raises taxes like we have never seen, while also making many things you buy everyday more expensive (gas, groceries, and much more),” he said. “And don’t forget the crazy Green New Deal. America, you are being robbed in the dark of night,” he wrote. “It’s time to wake up!”
Senate Democrats are expected to try to pass the measure in September, when the final bill text is completed. In the meantime, they’ll likely be hearing more from Trump.
“While you were all sleeping, the Radical Democrats advanced a plan that will be known as the $3.5 trillion Communist Plan to Destroy America,” Trump said. “This legislation is an assault on our Nation, on our communities, and on the American Dream.”
President Joe Biden, though, has defended and praised the plan.
One of the major criticisms of the spending bill is rising inflation, which is fueled by printing more money to pay off debts.
A recent poll by the group No Labels found Americans are very concerned about inflation and increased federal spending.
“Democratic party leaders are telling their members that voters will reward them for signing on for $4+ trillion in new spending and that they don’t care if it’s passed on a party-line basis,” the group said. “Some Republican leaders are telling their members voters will reward them for obstructing it all. But 12,673 voters in 33 congressional districts are saying something very different. They are saying they DO want the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill passed. They are saying they ARE open to more social spending, BUT they want it done the right way, with two-party support and they aren’t comfortable with the spending levels many Democrats are pushing. That’s what the voters are saying.”
