White House Still Won’t Allow Fireworks At Mount Rushmore

The Biden administration is giving the okay to state and local officials to hold Independence Day celebration except at one location — Mount Rushmore.

This week, the Biden administration announced that it would allow fireworks celebrations to continue across the country specifically, according to a letter from the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs tweeted out by South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, to “mark independence from the virus.”

Norm tweeted, “What a hypocrite. President @JoeBiden wants a ‘summer of freedom’ where we ‘mark independence from the virus by celebrating with events across the country.’ Translation: fireworks are fine at the White House, but not at Mount Rushmore.”

Mount Rushmore is known for its patriotic firework display. Noem has repeatedly been denied requests by the National Park Service to allow a display. As recently as this month, her bid for a permit to be issued expeditiously was again denied.
